Exporting IP Devices to Excel or CSV

The Export button on the Devices page gives you a spreadsheet of every IP device your TetherBox found on the network. Each row carries the address, the identity the device reported about itself, and any disk fault it reported.

 Taking the Export

  1. Go to Devices.
  2. Set the filters you want. The export contains exactly the devices the current filter shows.
  3. Click Export, then CSV or Excel.
  4. We email the spreadsheet to the address on your account, as an attachment.

A whole fleet takes a moment to build, which is why the file arrives by email rather than downloading in the browser.

CSV uses a semicolon between fields and opens in Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice Calc, Google Sheets and Numbers. Excel (.xls) carries the same columns with the TetherX heading and formatting.

 What Each Column Contains

Both formats carry the same 26 columns, in this order. A cell is empty where nothing has reported that value.

Column Contains
Name The name given to the device. An unnamed device shows its vendor and IP, for example "Unnamed Hikvision device 10.1.1.64".
MAC Address The hardware address found on the network. This is the identity your TetherBox tracks a device by when its IP changes.
IP The address used to reach the device. A manual IP set by an administrator wins over the discovered one.
Vendor The manufacturer that owns the MAC address prefix. "Unknown" where the device has no MAC and no vendor.
Monitored Yes where monitoring is on, so we report the device going offline and any health problem we detect.
Online Yes where the device answered the last ping. It turns to No at 100% packet loss.
Site The site the device belongs to.
TetherBox The TetherBox that found the device.
Timeline The timeline the device belongs to.
Last Seen When the online state last changed. A device online for a month carries the time it came online, not the time of the last scan.
First Seen When your TetherBox first discovered the device.
Open Ports Every port found open on the device, separated by commas.
Manufacturer The manufacturer the device reported over ONVIF or its own API, which can differ from the MAC vendor.
Model The model the device reported.
Firmware Version The firmware version the device reported.
Serial Number The serial number the device reported.
Recorder Yes where the device reported an NVR, DVR or hybrid device class, or reported more than one video input.
ONVIF API State The result of the last ONVIF call: ok, disabled, user_locked, unauthorised or no_credentials. Empty where nothing has tried the device yet.
Native API State The same values for the vendor's own API, such as Hikvision ISAPI or the Dahua CGI.
ONVIF port The port used for ONVIF.
RTSP port The port used for RTSP streaming, 554 unless changed.
Suspected Failure The disk the device reported as faulty and the state it reported, for example "Disk 1: error". Empty where every disk is healthy.
Storage Capacity (GB) The total size of the disks a recorder reported.
Storage Free (GB) The free space a recorder reported.
Storage Used (%) How full a recorder is.
Days of Footage How far back the recorder's own footage goes, taken from its shortest channel.

 Columns Only a Recorder Fills

The last five columns come from a recorder answering for its own disks over the Dahua, Hikvision or ONVIF interface. A camera with no disks leaves them empty, and so does a recorder that has disks but reported no size, which is every disk read over ONVIF. An empty cell means we have no reading of that figure.

Tip: Sort by Suspected Failure to put every recorder with a faulty disk at the top of the sheet.
